Changing the trajectory of health for humanity from the beginning

A mother’s pregnancy, plus a child’s first two years of life, is one of the most critical stages in human health and development, forever influencing how a person interacts with the world. However, a lack of access to quality care makes a healthy start at life challenging for many. To profoundly change the trajectory of health for humanity, we must start at the very beginning of life. At Johnson & Johnson we use our collective expertise to help babies and their parents flourish in the early years of life to build a healthy foundation for the future and ensure that mothers and children not only survive, but thrive during the early stages of life – because a healthier world, is a more just and equitable world.

Alice Cortivo returned from her six-month secondment with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in Lisbon, Portugal

There are many reasons why Alice Cortivo wanted to be part of the Secondment Program in 2018. Before her secondment she has actively supported her community through volunteering activities, but she wanted the opportunity to give back to others through a long-term program to deliver real impact, while developing her own personal and professional growth.

Alice’s role was to increase AKF Portugal’s visibility and expand and diversify its digital presences to institutional stakeholders in Portugal. She used her skills to provide marketing, advocacy and communications support to help build staff capacity, engage new stakeholders and strengthen the relations with the private sector, to support social and economic inclusion interventions on a national scale.

Watch the final video from Alice Cortivo to find out more about her experience and how AKF Portugal, who is part of the Aga Khan Development Network, benefited from the secondment.
