Building Young Leadership Capacity across the Globe through our Partnership with OYW: Meet our Class of 2019

At Johnson & Johnson, we are committed to building young leadership capacity in the health and care giving arena and empowering young leaders both within our organization and in the outside world, to change the trajectory of health for humanity. To date, through our partnership with One Young World (OYW), an NGO which connects the world’s most impactful young leaders to create a better world, over 160 young J&J leaders (aged 18-30) from across the globe have participated in our six month J&J OYW accelerated learning and development program.

This year, another 77 young leaders (65 J&J employees and 12 external young leaders) representing 36 countries from across the globe, will participate with the aim to create positive change to health for humanity. Bringing the total number of J&J participants up to over 240 since launch of our partnership back in 2013. Our 2019 delegation will be part of a global community of over 1,800 young leaders attending this year’s OYW Summit where they will have the opportunity to learn from world leaders and leading companies from every sector across the globe and to debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.

J&J OYW Scholarship Program

As our scholarship program enters a third year, our 65 J&J 2019 employees will be joined by twelve external young leaders (selected out of 2,600 global applications*) working on the front lines of health, through the J&J OYW Scholarship Program. Besides attending the upcoming OYW Summit taking place in London, UK (October 22-25), all scholarship recipients will receive individual coaching from senior Johnson & Johnson leaders to further develop their aspiration, strategy and/or initiatives. In addition, all scholars are provided with a team of 2019 J&J delegates over the course of the six-month program to help build and strengthen the capacity of the scholar, through the sharing of their skills and knowledge.

As the world’s largest and most broadly based healthcare company we are proud to be partnering with One Young World and to empower young leaders on the front lines to positively change the trajectory of health for humanity. Please join us in congratulating all young leaders selected for this years’ program. We can’t wait to start working with them!

About the OYW Summit

Nearly 200 countries are represented with participants from all walks of life including social entrepreneurs, politicians, civil rights advocates, young business leaders, health care practitioners and more. At the annual OYW Summit, delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking and workshops. They have the opportunity to give keynote speeches and share a platform with global world leaders. The agenda is shaped by the One Young World Community through the Global Consultation Process, ensuring maximum relevance to the issues affecting young people. At the end of the Summit, delegates become One Young World Ambassadors. They return to their communities and organisations with the means and motivation to make a difference, accessing the global network of 10,000+ young leaders to accelerate existing initiatives or establish new ventures.
