The Scholarship Program was launched in 2017 by Johnson & Johnson in partnership with One Young World (OYW), to strengthen external health leadership capacity and support the most vulnerable populations. Last year, eight scholarships were offered for those working in the health/care giving arena with 2,200 applications received from across the globe, resulting in eight exceptional young leaders attending the 2017 OYW Summit in Bogotá, Colombia.
Such was the success of the program with all eight scholars developing new and exciting initiatives with the potential to change the trajectory of health for humanity that, this year, the program has been further scaled to offer 12 scholarships to aspiring young leaders.
As well as attending the upcoming One Young World Summit in The Hague, The Netherlands this October, scholarship recipients will also receive individual coaching from senior Johnson & Johnson leaders to further develop their aspiration, strategy and/or initiatives. They will also be buddied with Johnson & Johnson delegates who are participating in the 2018 program to share best practice.
Who can apply
The Scholarships are open to young leaders (aged 18-30) working within health and/or care-giving and includes nurses, doctors, birth attendants, social entrepreneurs and those working for social enterprises and NGOs, as well as individuals dedicated to health and care giving in underserved communities.
Says Annet Eijkelkamp, Director Employee Engagement, J&J Global Community Impact EMEA, “This year, we are looking for 12 extraordinary young leaders, who are striving to change the trajectory of health for humanity, to join our 2018 Scholarship Program. This really is an amazing opportunity to participate in an inspirational program that will spark debate and creatively to help formulate and advance innovative solutions to solve health/care challenges in vulnerable populations.”
For information on the selection criteria and how to apply, please visit the OYW website. The deadline for applications is 8 May 2018. (Note: Johnson & Johnson is not involved in the selection process).
