Bringing positive change to all beneficiaries through the Trust Secondment Program

In 2016, Mariana Xavier from Janssen Portugal completed a six month Secondment with the Aga Khan University to strengthen midwifery and nursing associations in East Africa. Watch Mariana’s journey and see how the Secondment Program has made an positive impact to the nursing associations and to the personal and personal development of Mariana.

Making sure young children have the best start in life

In East Africa, there is a lack of resources to improve the health, education, care and protection of young children. The Trust is partnering with the Aga Khan Development Network to support early childhood development programs in East Africa and across other countries (Egypt and Portugal). In Zanzibar, the Madrasa Early Childhood Programme provides children with the best start in life by training community councilors to provide the necessary tools and support to teachers to nurture the development young children and fulfil their potential.
